Success Story Daimler Buses Digital Spare Parts Warehouse for Buses
A key concern of the future will be to supply spare parts on demand that meet all customer requirements – while significantly lowering the costs associated with logistics and transport. The Additive Minds team helped the bus division of Daimler, EvoBus GmbH, to set up a digital spare parts warehouse for their buses. The goal was to reduce the production, storage and logistics costs of approximately 300,000 spare parts. Thanks to a close collaboration, the team identified 2,500 parts that could be manufactured with industrial 3D printing. After the first few test runs with 35 parts, it was already clear: EvoBus GmbH would be ready to begin in-house production of spare parts earlier than expected – and at significantly reduced cost.
